Mission

To provide a quality rugby experience for university students and the wider university community, through strong governance, coaching, sustainability and culture.

Founded in 1966, the University of Waikato Rugby Club (UWRC) has a 60-year tradition of providing the best platform for talented rugby players to reach higher honours and to provide members with team experiences they can cherish for life.

Whether you want to socialise and have fun or play competitively at an elite level, students at the University of Waikato can reach their full potential by playing for UWRC. Based on campus at the Don Llewellyn Sports Pavilion, UWRC is the rugby club of choice for students. With five rugby teams (Men’s Premier, Women’s Premier, Men’s Premier Development, Men’s Colts, Women’s Development (combined side) the club caters for players of all abilities. It also welcomes non students as well .

The club fosters inclusiveness with past players/club alumni and supporters remaining linked with the club through the Old Varstonians Rugby Supporters Club -OVRSC. email: ovrsc66@gmail.com to register as an Old Varstonian
